Undergraduate Poet to Represent Roosevelt

On April 1st, undergraduate student Susie Swanton will represent Roosevelt University at the 11th annual Columbia College Chicago Citywide Undergraduate Poetry Festival! Susie's poetry has appeared in the cream city review and The One Night Only Magazine. She performed in the entry of the Encyclopedia Show that featured slices of John Wayne Gacy's brain and is the slam champion of the 2010 Louder than a Bomb College Slam.

The festival is the only intercollegiate poetry festival in the Midwest. Columbia College, one of the first undergraduate poetry majors in the country, began this event with the coordination of poetry faculty member, Tony Trigilio. One student from each of the participating colleges and universities is invited to read their work at the festival. The students who read are chosen by their teachers based on the excellence of their work.

Participating schools include: Columbia College Chicago, Chicago State University, DePaul University, Loyola University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern University, North Central College, Roosevelt University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois-Chicago.

Show Susie your support by attending this event, at 5:30 p.m. at Columbia College Chicago's
Ferguson Hall, 600 S. Michigan Ave. on the 1st floor. The event is free and open to the public.
